About the EMSBL
General Information
Using modified American League rules, we play 7 inning double-headers on Sundays, typically starting at 11:00am or 1:00pm. Uniforms are required. Each team faces all other teams twice throughout the season. At the end of the regular season the top four teams face each other in the playoffs to find the true league champion.
Six teams currently make up EMSBL, so there is a lot of room for expansion. Proper etiquette is expected as we continue to maintain a thriving, competitive league with a family oriented environment - All for the love of the game!
If you're interested in joining EMSBL, either as a player, manager, or in spinning a team of your own, please complete our online form and tell us a little about you (name, age, a brief history of your playing experience, positions played and preferred, and easiest way to contact you) so we may share your information with our league managers.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who Can Play?
Anyone who has a love for the game of baseball! The league is competitive, but players of all skill levels are encouraged to come join in the fun!
Are There Age Restrictions?
Yes - Players must turn 25 this calendar year. That said, there are exceptions! Each team is allowed two players under the age of 25 on the field or in the lineup at any one time. If a team rosters more than 2 players under the age of 25, no more than two can be actively on the field or in the lineup simultaneously. In addition, no player under the age of 25 may pitch.
Where Do You Play?
Games are typically held at local high school fields. Currently, we play at Churchill High School, Pleasant Hill High School, Kelly Field in Cottage Grove, and at the Glide Athletic Fields.
When Do You Play?
Our league typically starts in early June. Each team plays 20 games, all held as double-headers on Sundays. The first game typically starts at 11:00am and the second game starts 20-30 minutes after the first game ends, usually between 1:00pm and 1:30pm.
Are There Equipment Rules?
We're a wood bat league, which means we do not use metal bats. All types of wood and wood composite bats are allowed. Players must wear team uniforms and baseball pants. All cleat types are acceptable.
What Does It Cost?
Player fees are typically around $250. This fee pays for use of the fields, two umpires at every game, basic insurance for the league and national MSBL membership for every player.
